Nearly Over-the-Top Fanciness

As soon as “chichi” (the word-of-the-day) was delieverd to my mailbox I thought of an image like this:
PRONUNCIATION:
(SHEE-shee)
MEANING:
adjective: Affectedly elegant.
noun: Showy stylishness.
ETYMOLOGY:
From French, of imitative origin. Earliest documented use: 1908.
USAGE:
“If all that sounds too chichi, get back to basics with the traditional present — socks.”
Bazaar; The Independent (London); Nov 2, 1996.
As so often, this word is from  A.Word.A.Day with Anu Garg. Many thanks, Anu!
(Doesn’t “chichi” seriously sound like the meaning?)
By the way, folks, don’t be afraid to comment! We’d love to hear from you….
